Site updates for our neighbours: Facebook groups, letters and direct contact

We post general updates about our project on our blog and social media channels.

But there are some issues we think we will be of interest only to the local community, and not the wider public. These have included: key stages in the site construction; vehicle movements during rig mobilisation and demobilisation; and planned emergency alarm drills. We don’t tend to post information about these on our website or social media, but use other channels to ensure our neighbours are kept in the loop.

For example, we’ll post on local Facebook pages: Trethurgy and Friends, Penwithick Community News, Luxulyan Community and PL24 group.

In addition, we keep a log of those neighbours who’ve opted to be contacted directly with any site news. Anyone can join this: we just need a name and some contact details (including an email if possible).

And occasionally we’ll deliver an update letter to several hundred households in the immediate vicinity of the site. The latest of these is from October 2021 and can be downloaded below:

And finally, we liaise with the Eden Project Neighbours’ Forum, and have an Eden Geothermal Community Liaison Group (see below).

Eden Geothermal Community Liaison Group

Eden Geothermal Community Liaison Group aims to provide “a forum for communication between Eden Geothermal, its partners and the local community”. Its members are representatives of the four parish councils that border the Eden site (Treverbyn, Luxulyan, St Blaise and Carlyon), Cornwall Council, Eden Neighbours Forum, Eden Geothermal Ltd and Eden Project.

To contact the group, or to find out about participating in a meeting, please email us at info@edengeothermal.com.

More information about how the group operates can be found in EGCLG’s Terms of Reference, which you can download here:
