Upgrades to village playing field

Trethurgy Village Hall Committee were awarded an Eden Geothermal Community Fund grant to upgrade and improve facilities at their village playing field.

The committee described how the playing field was being well-used but was rather “neglected” and could benefit from some investment and TLC to ensure it was safe, and to encourage new users.  

Although funding doesn’t stretch to cover all of the improvements requested, the Community Fund grant will pay for: 

• New goal posts, to replace the old rusty ones which were felt to be unsafe; 

• Hardstanding safety flooring for the basketball shooting area, which was bumpy and uneven; 

• An outdoor table tennis table to provide entertainment / exercise opportunities for a wider range of ages and family groups; 

• Two new benches. 

A community working day is to be held to install the new equipment, and it’s hoped that the result will be a welcoming space which promotes health and wellbeing by encouraging access to fresh air and exercise opportunities, and providing a focus for social interaction.
